Producer: J. Moreau & Fils, Chablis
Between Dijon and Paris, on the banks of the Serein – a tributary of the Seine – lies the charming wine region of Chablis, part of Burgundy. Chardonnay thrives particularly well on the highly calcareous soils found here. The success story of J. Moreau & Fils began as early as 1814. Today, the winery is one of the oldest houses in the region. At that time, the young cooper J. Moreau settled in Chablis, where he married the daughter of a local winegrower. Over the years, this pioneer in the Chablis region became one of the most important producers of Chablis wines. His expertise is highly regarded, as is the uncompromising terroir-driven style of the wines. What Jean-Joseph Moreau began more than 200 years ago with passion and dedication to winemaking is now in the hands of the oenologist Lucie Depuydt. Born in Chablis, she has an instinct for bringing out the best from every grape. Since 1985, J. Moreau & Fils has been part of the Boisset family.
