Private Selection Mendoza 75 cl
The Private Selection Mendoza by Alpasión from Tunuyán combines the strength of Malbec with the elegance of Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petit Verdot. Crafted in the high-altitude vineyards of the Uco Valley in the Mendoza region, this red wine showcases what Argentine winemaking can achieve at a biodynamic level – concentrated, complex and yet approachable.
Producer: Alpasión, Tunuyán
The winery is located in the Uco Valley in the Mendoza region, where the highest vineyards – between 1200 and 1500 metres above sea level – are found. Alpasión, as its name suggests, was born from pure, almost exuberant passion. The people of the winery share this passion with us generously. Their love for Argentina and for excellent wine brought them together and inspired this project. They hired Karim Mussi Saffie, one of the best oenologists in Argentina. The vines and the wines are cultivated and produced in an extremely sustainable way in all dimensions. Organic standards are so self-evident here that they hardly need mentioning. On the labels of Alpasión you can find the fingerprints and signatures of all the people who work together on this project.

FAQ
What defines the style of Private Selection Mendoza?
Private Selection Mendoza is a powerful, fruit-driven red wine with great depth. The high altitude in the Uco Valley gives it freshness and mineral length, while the 15-month barrique ageing adds structure and complexity.
How is Private Selection Mendoza vinified?
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine then matures for 15 months in French oak barriques – an ageing process that lends the wine depth and elegance without overpowering it.
What role do the grape varieties play in this wine?
Malbec forms the fruit-forward, full-bodied base. Syrah brings spice and depth, Cabernet Franc contributes elegance and herbal notes, while Petit Verdot adds colour and tannic structure. Together they create a harmonious, multi-layered wine.
At what temperature should the wine be served?
Private Selection Mendoza develops its best aromas at 16°–18°C. It is recommended to decant it briefly before serving.
When does Private Selection Mendoza 2021 reach its peak?
Already very enjoyable now, it will continue to develop through to 2036. For maximum complexity, a few more years of patience are recommended.
What does Private Selection Mendoza pair best with?
Ideal with hearty grilled red meat, rack of lamb, aged hard cheeses, or simply enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine.
What makes the Mendoza region special?
Mendoza lies at the foot of the Andes and benefits from large temperature variations between day and night, as well as irrigation from Andean snowmelt. The Uco Valley, where Alpasión is located, is one of the highest and coolest wine-growing areas in Argentina at up to 1500 m above sea level – ideal for wines with finesse and ageing potential.
What role does the barrique play in Private Selection Mendoza?
French oak barriques impart toasted aromas, dark chocolate tones and tannic complexity during the 15-month maturation, without overshadowing the fruity primary structure.
